My name is Anbarasan, and I work as a Senior Automation Engineer. My professional experience is rooted in automation, and my career aspiration is to establish myself as a unique professional in the field of automated test equipment.
Over the next year, I want to move towards product leadership. I would like to become a product leader who contributes to the development of other products while continuing to build on my experience in automation.
Innovation Begins With the Way I Work
One aspect of my personality that may not be widely known is my interest in innovation. I like to think about how I approach my work and how business operations can be handled differently.
For me, innovation is connected to the way work is approached. It involves looking at how tasks are carried out, how a business operates, and where a different approach may be useful.
This interest is particularly relevant to my work as a senior automation engineer. As I think about the next stage of my career, I want innovation to remain an important part of how I grow professionally.
Building a Distinct Career in Automated Test Equipment
My career goal is specific. I want to be recognised as a unique professional in the automated test equipment field.
Automation is already central to my current role, but my aspiration goes beyond continuing in the same profile. I want to move towards a product leadership role through which other products can be developed.
This career direction allows me to remain connected to automation while expanding my focus towards products. I want my experience in automated test equipment to become the foundation for my growth as a product leader.
Why Product Leadership Is My Next Step
Product leadership represents the direction in which I want to take my career. My goal is not only to work within automation but also to contribute to product development.
Becoming a product leader would allow me to bring my interest in innovation, my automation profile, and my product aspirations together. Over the coming year, I want to work towards establishing this combination within my professional identity.
To prepare for this goal, I chose the Executive MBA program at the Institute of Product Leadership. Two particular aspects of the program influenced my decision.
The Importance of One-on-One Mentorship
The first aspect was one-on-one mentorship.
Individual mentorship was a clear reason for choosing the program. As I work towards a product leadership role, the opportunity to receive one-on-one guidance is an important part of the learning experience I was looking for.
My career aspiration is focused on a specialised field, which makes personalised mentorship particularly relevant to the path I want to pursue.
Career Guidance and Internship Opportunities
The second aspect was the career guidance and internship opportunities provided through the program.
My objective is to move from my current Senior Automation Engineer profile towards product leadership. Career guidance can help me consider that next step, while the internship component adds another dimension to the program.
Together, mentorship, career guidance, and internship opportunities were the key factors behind my choice.
My Path Towards Becoming a Product Leader
I want to become a unique professional in automated test equipment and grow into a product leader who contributes to the development of other products.
My current role in automation, my interest in innovative approaches to work, and my product leadership aspiration define the direction I want to follow. The next year is about working towards that goal while learning through mentorship and career guidance.
For me, becoming a product leader in an automated world begins with building on my automation experience and developing a stronger connection with product development.
