Leadership Thursday

Launch of ‘Leadership Thursdays’ in Pune: 6th December, 2018 was yet another landmark in IPL’s dedicated journey to connect industry leaders to aspiring product leaders. The first edition of ‘Leadership Thursdays’ in Pune witnessed a great turnout of our Executive MBA participants. The sessions revolved around the themes of ‘ Product management for global cloud products from India – 5 lessons learned’, led by Vishalini Paliwal  – Senior Director, Product Management – MindTickle and ‘5 critical product leadership skills as you become a VP at an MNC’, led by  Shantanu Kulkarni – Vice President – Amdocs.

Our speakers shared nuggets of wisdom and industry trends – Vishalini is an independent product consultant for multiple startups. An entrepreneur by heart she loves to build mobile tech products which create an impact in the lives of people. She is currently associated with MindTickle, one of the leading SAAS startups founded in India as Senior Director Products. Our second speaker, Shantanu has over 18+ immensely fulfilling years with Amdocs. He has been part of nearly entire BSS suite and is currently leading the OSS domain. In these years he has been part of R&D as well as Delivery wing of Amdocs. He conducts facilitation/training sessions across the organization on management topics, especially on the topics of enriching stakeholder relationship, customer interaction workshops, and Innovation.

Insightful discussions, a lot of camaraderie and many pertinent questions were raised in the session. Some key takeaways of Vishalini’s session included learning the skills to become an excellent cloud product manager; creating a product roadmap for cloud products and listing the trends and scope of cloud Product Management as a career choice. Shantanu highlighted the importance of personal branding for a product leader; how to enable stakeholder management by striking the balance; leading organisational change and innovation and personal discipline.

The event created the perfect blend of deep-dive learning into a niche area and a chance to be mentored 1:1 by experienced thought leaders. We look forward to hosting the next edition of ‘Leadership Thursdays’ soon. Stay tuned!
