EMBA Class of 2016 B Orientation

Orientation Highlights

The pleasant pre-monsoon weather at IPL’s Koramangala campus welcomed the latest batch of EMBA students. It was Orientation Day for the early admitted participants of the 18-month EMBA program that promises to be an exciting and enriching experience for these senior professionals.

Dr. Marya Wani welcomed the students and talked to them about the design of the program curriculum framework and pedagogy. Prof. Ramanan Ganesan, head of the EMBA program, introduced the students to the Learning By Doing methodology students would become familiar with during the next 18 months. He focused on the product labs, describing some Product Labs ideas from past cohorts that went on to become actual products; as well as the Personal Leadership Labs that would aid participants to add leadership and communication skills to their arsenal.

Many of the insitute’s top faculty including Prof. Vasudevmurthy, Prof. Akshay Cherian and Prof. Aslam Hirani spoke to and interacted with participants on topics such as Leadership, Experiential Learning and Leveraging Program Value. Alumni from past cohorts including Brahmanand Reddy Patil and Kumar Anand shared their learnings from the program and imparted some tips to the participants on how to make the best use of the program.

The sessions were followed by Media Box, wherein participants talked to the camera about their backgrounds and their aspirations for future career growth aided by the EMBA program.

This cohort has a galaxy of talented individuals hailing from diverse backgrounds, who are working in multinationals such as Robert Bosch, Ericsson, Oracle and Microsoft; as well as product-oriented startups such as AllScripts, CipherCloud and Cybrilla Technologies. They are in for “irreversible damage” as an alumnus put it – a transformational experience that is sure to accelerate their careers in leadership and innovation.
